LCRA is conducting an impact fee study for the area served by the West Travis County Regional Wastewater System. This study is part of a two-step, fee-setting process specified in the Texas Local Government Code and will help develop impact fees that will fund or recoup part of the capital costs relating to building wastewater related infrastructure. Capital improvements costs not covered by the impact fee will be recovered through monthly rates.

Impact fees are one-time assessments to new service connections to pay eligible costs related to facility expansion, including construction or acquisition. Existing customers of the system are not required to pay the fee.

LCRA has scheduled a public hearing, which will address the land use assumptions and the capital plan, at the LCRA Board meeting on May 21, 2008. The second hearing, on the proposed impact fee, likely will occur at the Board meeting in August. The Board will not adopt an impact fee until after the second hearing.
