AUSTIN -- Members of the public interested in providing input on a proposal to provide water service to the Hamilton Pool Road area in western Travis County will get another opportunity at a public meeting on Thursday, May 6.

LCRA has scheduled the public meeting from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dripping Springs Primary School, 29400 RR 12 North to receive comments. See map of location. Public input from this meeting will be recorded and provided to the LCRA Board of Directors before the Board makes a final decision on the water service proposal.

Landowners in the Hamilton Pool Road area have requested water service from LCRA through its West Travis County Regional Water Treatment System. The proposal would provide surface water and local water-quality protections to an area where they do not now exist.

As part of a public input process, LCRA's Board of Directors set aside two hours at its meeting on April 21 to listen to LCRA staff and the public on the issue.

LCRA staff currently plans to take the issue to the Board for action at its May 19 meeting, which will be held at LCRA's Canyon of the Eagles Nature Park in Burnet County. That meeting will be open to the public, but the Board will not take further public testimony on this issue at that meeting.

LCRA staff has been discussing the water-service proposal with Hamilton Pool Road landowners and environmental representatives for more than a year. Discussions with several landowners have intensified during the past two months. The landowners have agreed to develop in accordance with water-quality protection measures prepared by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect endangered species in the Barton Springs watershed.

The May 6 public meeting will operate with the same ground rules as the LCRA Board meeting on the Hamilton Pool Road issue. Speakers should try not to repeat information provided by previous speakers. Also, speakers will not be able to yield time to another person.
