Welcome to the LCRA-SAWS Water Project Web site, where you can find information on the proposed project, an ongoing study of the project’s feasibility, and how to get involved in the study process.
About the project
The LCRA-SAWS Water Project is a water sharing proposal to develop alternative supplies that could help meet long-term needs in the lower Colorado River basin and the San Antonio area. The plan was developed during the statewide regional water supply planning process required under Senate Bill 1, passed in 1997. It is an important water supply strategy for both regions and the state. LCRA and San Antonio Water System (SAWS) are in the sixth year of a six-year in-depth study of the proposal’s technical, environmental and financial feasibility. The study period also will determine if the project can meet legislative requirements and obtain federal, state and local permits.
