GenTex Power Corporation

GenTex Power Corporation, a wholly owned LCRA affiliate, oversaw the planning and construction of Lost Pines 1 Power Project, a 545-megawatt combined-cycle power plant in Bastrop County.

In 1999, GenTex announced the construction of the natural gas-fired plant with Calpine Corporation, a California-based independent power producer. Lost Pines 1 began producing power in May 2001. Until January 2004, Calpine shared ownership of the plant with GenTex.

The nine-member GenTex Board continues to approve the plant's annual operation and maintenance budget and monitor activities at Lost Pines 1.

The GenTex Board of Directors comprises four representatives of LCRA's wholesale electric customers and five representatives from LCRA's Board of Directors.

Customer representatives are Randal Jones, vice chair (City Manager, City of Weimar), Billy Marricle (General Manager, San Bernard Electric Cooperative), Gary Nietsche (General Manager, Fayette Electric Cooperative), and Shawn Raborn (City Manager, City of La Grange).

LCRA General Manager Thomas G. Mason serves as chief executive officer and president of GenTex.  Daniel G. Kuehn, executive manager of LCRA Wholesale Power Services, serves as vice president and chief operating officer.

LCRA Board representatives are Rebecca A. Klein, chair; Kay Carlton; Clayborne L. Nettleship; Linda C. Raun and B. R. Skipper Wallace.
