LCRA Emergency Management

LCRA's Emergency Management provides emergency planning and training, emergency response, disaster recovery and hazard mitigation for LCRA's customers and constituents, as well as coordination with local, regional and state authorities. The Emergency Management program's mission includes the four phases of emergency management: preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.

Preparedness
Emergency Management develops, implements and maintains an enterprisewide all-hazard emergency management program for LCRA. This program supports the emergency management and emergency response activities of LCRA's business units. Emergency Management also supports local, regional and statewide emergency planning and training activities.

LCRA Mobile Command Post
LCRA's Mobile Command Post is a self-contained emergency communications trailer.

Response
LCRA's Mobile Command Post is a self-contained communications trailer available to local governments for coordinating emergencies and major events. Arrangements for use of the Mobile Command Post for nonemergency events can be made through the LCRA Public Safety office (512) 473-3200 Ext. 3246. During emergencies, LCRA Public Safety personnel can be reached by contacting LCRA's Public Safety dispatch center at 1-866-527-2267 (1-866-LCRA COP). Download flier for more information.

LCRA also operates the Emergency Management Radio Network, which links emergency management coordinators along the lower Colorado River with each other using LCRA's 900-MHz radio system.

Recovery
Emergency Management serves as LCRA's liaison with federal, state and local emergency officials during the disaster recovery process. This includes coordinating the assessment of damage to LCRA facilities and preparing application for federal reimbursement of eligible costs. LCRA Emergency Management also can help local governments pursue federal reimbursement for disaster-related losses.

Mitigation
Emergency Management coordinates the activities of the Texas Colorado River Floodplain Coalition in developing the Hazard Mitigation Action Plans mandated by the Hazard Mitigation Act of 2000. The department helps LCRA business units develop business continuity plans to ensure that LCRA is able to continue to deliver essential services to its customers and the citizens of its service area.
